Prepare the chicken
Remove the giblets from the cavity if needed. Rinse the chicken (optional), then pat it very dry inside and out with paper towels to help it cook properly. -
Season the chicken
In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Rub the seasoning all over the chicken, including under the skin where possible and inside the cavity. -
Optional trussing
Tie the legs together with kitchen twine and tuck the wings under the body for even cooking (optional). -
Place in slow cooker
Set the chicken breast-side up in the slow cooker. No liquid is needed, as the chicken will release its own juices. -
Cook
