Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast
    In a bowl, mix lukewarm milk, yeast, sugar, and 2 tablespoons of flour. Let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the Dough
    In a large bowl, combine flour and butter until crumbly. Add salt, then pour in the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth, adding water as needed. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Prepare the Topping
    In a small bowl, mix minced garlic, softened butter, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Shape the Dough
    Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal. Roll the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle and transfer to the sheet. Let rest for 15–20 minutes.
